Weaving Wall Hangings

I’ve revived my small loom and have been playing at weaving. This was the first one I made.

I messed around with all sorts of techniques, mixing different yarns for texture.

I found a lovely stick to hang it from. Having done this one I thought I’d try an image. My inspiration came from one of my doodles.

From this I did a sketch.

Here is the end result.

The colour isn’t quite right. The red isn’t that vivid. The edges are very wobbly, but it is only meant to be a learning process. I enjoyed playing with colour in the sky, though it meant there were a lot of ends to sew in.

Finally, here is a weaving my Mormor did, which lives on the wall in our sitting room.

I think I’ve got a way to go to reach her standards, but I’ve definitely inherited her love of colour.
